Colorado's first indoor ski and snowboard facility opens

Everything started moving. If I didn’t act fast, I’d probably fly straight back into the wall behind me. My legs were wobbly: They didn’t know what to do with this new sensation. It was somehow both familiar and foreign.

My arms flailed about for a moment, utterly useless, before resting at my sides. The knees. It was all in the knees. I knew that. I remembered that. Now I needed to do it.

I formed my skis into the familiar pizza-pie triangle. It was the shape that allowed me to learn how to ski. It’s how they teach you how to slow down on the slopes.

But I wasn’t slowing down. I was going backward.

SALT LAKE CITY — A new venue was announced Thursday for the 2019 Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships.

Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resorts are already playing host to the event, and now Solitude Mountain Resort will also be getting in on the action.

“A lot of the World Cups that we have, you’d be surprised, but they like to build them where they don’t have snow,” said Faye Gulini, two-time snowboard cross Olympian and a Salt Lake City local.

For the first time ever, The International Ski Federation Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships will be held on American soil, and the event will be right here in Utah.

“You know I’m over here like, ‘My house has snow, why don’t we go there,” Gulini said of using Utah as a location.

Gulini grew up on these slopes. She and other athletes will compete on the new course this winter.

Solitude is the second stop of the U.S. Grand Prix tour. The event is a test run leading up to the world championships in 2019.

“I mean we’ve traveled all over the world, and we’ve raced kind of everywhere, and there’s no doubt in my mind that this will be one of the top events,” Gulini said.

The course will be near the base of Solitude. Athletes will go up the Apex Express and then down the Wall Street and Main Street runs.

How Old Is Too Old To Snowboard

“Age is just a number” they say. The ‘they’ in question clearly haven’t had to visit the hospital for an ultrasound on a knackered shoulder caused by falling out of bed. Indeed, viagra order age is a number, case but it’s one that coincided with the increasing fragility of all of us.

But this ancient looking fella laughs in the face of all of this morbid talk. He visited the Snow Centre in Hemel, and after a shaky start – including pissing off a local grom after snaking her – it wasn’t long before he was hitting rails, and hooning off the kicker on a snowboard like, well, like Jamie Nicholls.

We’re giving away a snowboard from Wilderness Sea n’ Ski

This week’s prize is an absolute ripper.

While The Snow Gauge is a skier he dips his lid to the snowboarding brethren out there and has managed to get hold of a TechNine T-Money Tie Dye snowboard through our good friends at Wilderness Sea N’ Ski, check Liverpool. The RRP is a lazy $549.

More on the board in a minute but I want to tell you a quick story about why you should be supporting Wilderness Sea N’ Ski if you live in Sydney’s west, south or anywhere else for that matter.

Personally, I’m not that big on the whole marketing thing. I write stories and my strict preference in life would be to just worry about that. But I gotta eat. So you’re thinking. ‘well, he’s got a snowboard to give away here so he’ll say anything to plug Wilderness Sea N’ Ski’.  Don’t have to because I was a loyal customer before I wrote anything about them.

Without Wilderness Sea N’ Ski knowing me from a bar of soap a couple of years back I bought a pair of Rossignol Soul 7’s from them. Fantastic price that was very competitive with anything from overseas. Then I bought my son’s ski boots – another great deal and some excellent customer service from store manager Deb Savvas to go with it.

Exclusive holiday to Banff with Telegraph Ski and Snowboard

Exceptional trip to Canada

£1,225 (based on two people sharing)
Hosted by Olympian Martin Bell

Banff offers one of the most stunning locations to go skiing and snowboarding in North America. Fact. The resort town lies in the midst of Banff Springs National Park at the heart of the Canadian Rockies where vast rocky peaks rise high above frozen lakes and tree-covered slopes.

From the lively, bustling resort – don’t be surprised to see an elk walking down the high street – you’ll be able to explore each of the three ski areas covered by the lift pass. The local slopes of Norquay, overlooking the town, are great for a warm-up day but Sunshine, a 20-minute bus ride away, and Lake Louise (40 minutes) are where you’ll spend most of your time.

Sunshine enjoys a whopping average annual snowfall of 9m and offers an extensive choice of intermediate slopes and plenty of runs of genuine black steepness, plus a great area of expert double-black trails and chutes. Lake Louise’s terrain is even more extensive – at 4,200 acres it offers one of the largest ski areas in North America – and particularly suits intermediates and experts. It’s especially renowned for the Powder Bowls area, where you’ll find countless black mogul runs, and spectacular views of the lake.
